All white kitchens are still very much in demand, especially when it comes to the big items like cabinetry and countertops. However, a kitchen drenched in white can feel a little stark and uninviting. Adding a few pops of color can make a huge difference in how the space feels and we’re not talking on the walls.

Young House Love

Bright, bold kitchen appliances are where homeowners and designers are adding that personality. No longer are we seeing neutrals like the standard white, black and stainless steel options control the appliance market. Shades like navy, orange, pink, yellow and many more are hitting stores and it’s changing the way people are designing kitchens.

This trend began with brands like Big Chill bringing in retro-inspired appliances and hues, adding to homeowners’ current love for everything vintage. These days we are craving bold color and its turning up everywhere in the home, so it only makes sense that it’s found its way onto more unexpected surfaces.

There are even companies offering endless color choices. Dacor,

using their DecorMatch Color System, can color match to any swatch so that clients can get virtually any hue they want on their wall ovens and ranges. Another range company, BlueStar, offers customers a customization option where they can create a completely unique kitchen style with more than 750 colors, 10 metal trims, and tons of configuration possibilities.

Different metallic options are also coming forward on the market. Gold in kitchens is a big trend at the moment, but hardware and light fixtures were where we were seeing it. Now, manufacturers are offering gold appliances, along with other metal finishes like brass and copper.

If a big statement isn’t something you’re looking for, but you still want a little added interest, we’ve also seen different metallics and hues show up on just the appliance hardware–knobs, handles, and trim. You could also add just a splash of color with a fun vent hood or even with smaller appliances like stand mixers, toasters, and coffee makers.

We don’t see white and gray kitchens going anywhere anytime soon. They’re ideal especially if you’re ever planning on selling your home. However, if you crave a little added pop, modern day appliances can give you exactly what you’re looking for and in virtually any color you can imagine without overdoing it.
